It is' a natural method to fight varroa, exploiting the fact that its reproductive cycle takes place only inside the brood cells. Its employment consists in confining the queen bee on a single honeycomb, empty, ready for desposition. The queen bee lays its eggs only on this honeycomb so that the varroa is present only on the larvae of this honeycomb. The honeycomb, when the brood is operculated, full of varroa, is picked up and destroyed in the washer. The surface on which the queen can move is sufficient to circulate her pheromone in the family and not to create the orphan family effect.
