Apivar is a registered veterinary drug based on amitraz in strip form.
It is indicated for the prevention and treatment of Varroa (Varroa jacobsoni or Varroa destructor) in the hives.
Amitraz acts as an acaricide by contact. It inhibits neuronal transmission causing neurotoxicity. The parasite is paralyzed and eliminated naturally by gravity in the environment. Apivar is therefore indicated for the prevention and treatment of bee varroasis (Varroa jacobsoni or Varroa destructor).
Use 2 strips of Apivar per hive, placing them between the 3/4 frame and the 7/8 frame.
Leave the strips inside the hive for at least 42 days and remove for disposal. If the strips are removed from the hive, they should be repositioned and left in the hive for 14 days before removal.
Strips should be removed after a maximum of 56 days.
Do not reuse strips.
In spring before the period in which the bees collect the nectar and in autumn after the removal of the supers.
Treat all colonies of an apiary simultaneously.
