We believe that it is very important to try to stem as much as possible the expansion of the umpteenth enemy of bees imported by man:
Vespas velutin, most commonly known as Asian hornet.
Even task forces are working on the territory and throughout Europe to stem its expansion (see the Life stop wasp project of the University of Grugliasco http://www.vespavelutina.eu/it-it/),
butall beekeepers can do something concrete to help!
You just have to put at least one trap in an apiary and check the contents every 10 days.
The bottle must be hung at least 1.5 meters high.
The stick must be diluted with 200ml of water and 50g of sugar.
The doses can be halved thus allowing two monitoring cycles of 10 days each.
If you identify adults and/or nests of V. velutin, even if only suspected, you are invited to report it and/or to the Beekeeping Observatory of DISAFA (tel. 011 670 8525 - 8584 - 8669 or via the website www.vespavelutina.unito.it)
