The uncapping operation, usually, using traditional forks requires long times and little uniformity in the work. This particular tool is used in an inverse way compared to the usual one, that is, it is necessary to slide it on the surface of the operculum by pulling it towards yourself, in order to eliminate one slice of the operculum at a time.

The double pointed blade also allows a more traditional use, especially for finishing operations on the corners of the frames or where a second step is required because the honeycomb has sunken areas or where the previous operation was not carried out correctly, still leaving a percentage of cells closed by the "cap" of operculum.
